Cluster Christmas Party

December 06, 2019 - November 06, 2019

We are happy to announce our first Cluster Christmas „Party“ this year, which gives the opportunity to meet other members of the cluster, exchange experiences and to expand your network.
When? Friday, December 6th, 2019, starting 4 p.m.
Where?  BMZ (Building 13), Foyer
Who? Cluster members, associated scientists and members of the groups

While we provide mulled wine, non-alcoholic punch and soft drinks we would like to make an international Christmas buffet with snacks that will be stuffed by all of us, including you!
We want to show the diversity and internationality of the cluster and invite you therefore to bring typical (Christmas) food from your home country/tradition and offer it to the other members of the cluster at the buffet.
To be able to plan a bit better and to make sure everyone gets some punch and mulled wine, we would ask you to simply enter your name in the following link if you are interested: https://www.umfrageonline.com/s/5ae033e
The free registration is possible until November 25th!
If you like to bring your kids with you, it is possible to use the Family- and Children's Room.

I am a cancer researcher trained in cell bi-ology, immunology and molecular oncolo-gy. I have made major contributions to the discoveries that defects in cell death can cause cancer, autoimmune disease and impair the response of cancers to chemo-therapy. My current work aims to reach a detailed understanding of the molecular control of programmed cell death. My team is ex-ploiting this knowledge to develop novel treatments for cancer and autoimmune diseases that directly activate the cell death machinery.

Santiago F. González holds two PhD degrees, one in microbiology from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and one in immunology from the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). He has been awarded three EU Marie Curie Fellowships. He found during his work in Harvard that dendritic cells residing in the lymph node medulla use the lectin receptor SIGN-R1 to capture lymph-borne influenza virus and promote humoral immunity. These results have important implications for the generation of durable humoral immunity to viral pathogens through vaccination and were published in Nature Immunology. In November 2012 he joined the Institute for Research in Biomedicine in Bellinzona as a group leader studying pathogen-host interaction.
