Our research focus is on Neuroimmunology. Our group make use of preclinical models and clinical samples to uncover how environmental factors like diet contribute to the progression of dementia. We are particularly interested in the role of chronic innate immune activation and metabolic signaling pathways in this process. A major goal of the McManus lab is to use these insights to identify novel immune-targeted therapies that could provide better, patient-specific options for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
