Stromal cells have emerged as a novel field in immunology and gained enormous interest during the last two decades. It isincreasingly evident that stromal cells within secondary lymphoid organs and in the tumor environment possess complex immuneregulatory capacity and significantly affect immunity and tolerance. The research of AG Lukacs-Kornek aims to uncover these immunoregulatory circuits of stromal cells, how this is affected by danger signals and how we can influence stromal-T cell cross-talk for a more efficient immune response within secondary lymphoid organs and in the tumor microenvironment.
