Dr. Aschenbrenner earned her PhD in developmental biology after studying Molecular Biomedicine at the University of Bonn and the University of Pennsylvania. She then strategically transitioned to systems immunology, leveraging her extensive expertise in genetic models, molecular biology, signalling and physiology to understand immune cells in health and disease. Her research places particular emphasis on integrating advanced genomics technologies with state-of-the-art bioinformatic approaches. As a group leader at the DZNE, she drives projects at the intersection of human immunology, translational clinical research, and data science, fostering cross-disciplinary collaborations. Her work focuses on patient stratification, disease endotyping, biomarker discovery, and the prediction of therapy outcomes, employing national and European data protection-compliant analytical frameworks and assisted learning methods.
