The Cluster Science Days 2022

Important insights and promising perspectives characterized the Cluster Science Days 2022

Once again, the cluster members, associated scientists and guests, gathered at BMZ I & II on the UKB campus, as well as online to exchange on current research in immunology. Together, we celebrated the largest Cluster Science Days ever: with a total of more than 400 registered participants online and on-site, a new high of submitted scientific posters, and great talks and discussions on a wide variety of topics in immunology, we are looking back on a very appropriate 10th edition of the annual ImmunoSensation2 meeting.

Again this year, the Cluster Science Days were accompanied by an online conference platform. The researchers were able to present scientific posters here, use the tool for exchange and to follow all talks online. Together, everyone took a look back on a great year of research. We contributed to the fight against the Covid 19 pandemic with our scientific findings, but we also published a lot in our other research areas. With the 1st International School on Advanced Immunology on Awaji Island/ Japan, we successfully started a promising new format in cooperation with IFReC from Osaka University. And we are happy to welcome all the newly recruited, highly talented (early career) researchers to the cluster and congratulate all those who have already secured prestigious funding. Altogether, the Cluster Science Days were a great event to once more finish a year together, as a scientific community.

To intensify the exchange in between different research groups and researchers within the cluster, we again successfully ran a “scientific speed dating”, fostering potential cooperations and expand networks within the local science community. As new feature, in cooperation with the Alanus School of Arts and Social Sciences, everyone could participate in an open painting session, as part of the science & arts project art@immunosenstion.

We hope everyone enjoyed the Cluster Science Days 2022 and are looking forward to welcome you again next year!

Mathematics meets Life Sciences - Joint symposium

The tremendous advances made in experimental life sciences in recent years provide a wealth of data on how organisms function. To gain biomedical knowledge from these data, both mathematical modeling and numerical analysis techniques in conjunction with experimental data are essential. At a joint symposium of the Clusters of Excellence Hausdorff Center for Mathematics and ImmunoSensation2 as well as the Transdisciplinary Research Areas "Modelling" and "Life and Health" of the University of Bonn, the professors working at the interfaces and their colleagues presented their…
